Snaking the Sails

The fore, main, and mizzen sails were struck, furled, unbent, and
stowed on deck before dinner on Friday night. Saturday morning
we returned to dock with the help of the yawl boat. After the passengers
went ashore, we started rigging down.
The first thing to come off were the sails. |

The sails
were laid out on deck one at a time and everyone grabbed hold to
pass it over the rail. |

Once over the rail, the sails were lugged to the shop to be stowed.
Each sail is heavy and cumbersome, so the more people, the better. |
